The Wilder is a small New Zealand store for plants, objects and ideas that make life a little greener, stranger, lovelier or more interesting.
We don't believe you need more stuff. But we do believe there's room for good things — things that earn their place, make you smile, solve a problem, or bring a little bit of the outside in.

The Wilder Wares are chosen because there's something particularly good about them. Beautiful, useful, unusual, clever, funny — ideally some combination of the above.
No enormous catalogue. No endless scrolling through 47 versions of the same thing.
Just good stuff we've found and think you might like too.
AUCKLAND GROWN
Good plants need good beginnings.
Our plants are grown right here in Auckland by experienced commercial growers, rather than sitting around in warehouses waiting for someone to love them.
We choose varieties that look good, travel well and have a fighting chance of remaining beautiful once they enter the real world.
Because nobody needs another high-maintenance relationship.
NZ-WIDE DELIVERY
Yes, we send plants in the post.
And yes, it works.
We've put rather a lot of thought into getting living, leafy things from Auckland to doorsteps around New Zealand safely.
Plants are carefully packed, protected and sent on their way. Wares travel too, although they're generally rather less dramatic about it.
THE WILDER GUARANTEE
Plants should arrive happy. We insist.
Sending a plant across the country in a box sounds mildly ridiculous.
Fortunately, we're quite good at it.
If your plant arrives damaged or decidedly unhappy, tell us. Send us a photo and we'll sort it out.
No arguments. No interrogation. No asking you to nurse a traumatised fern back to health and report back in six weeks.
Happy plant. Happy you. That's the deal.
SMALL ON PURPOSE
The Wilder isn't a giant garden centre, marketplace or fulfilment machine.
We're small, independent and selective — which means we can care about the details, change our minds, find interesting things and generally do things our own way.
We think that's rather nice.
